A couple of months ago my family and some close friends spent 7 days on the Disney Fantasy over Spring Break, a cruise that featured the last Star Wars Day at Sea for the year. For a day-to-day recap you can visit modhouswife.com, Ainslie did a great job of getting you all the details. My job is to give you the Douggiestyle perspective.

I am not a huge baseball fan - for me, the game itself is too slow, too boring, and takes way too long. I understand, and appreciate the history of the game, and as a born-and-raised Cincinnatian, you really have little choice in the matter. However, with each passing generation our society has shorter and shorter attention spans, MLB knows this and is trying desperately to find ways to fix the game. Here are 6 simple Douggiestyle ways to do just that…

It is a long standing belief that men don't do the grocery shopping. Arguably in my parents generation this was the rule, in my generation I do see more of my male friends shopping - and I if I see them there, that means I was there too. But generally speaking, more often than not, the wife does the grocery shopping.

Cincinnati is NOT a big city. In terms of Metro area size we are ranked around 28th or so in the nation. But the country knows Cincinnati. Maybe it is the unique name, or the great people that live here. Maybe it is Skyline Chili & Montgomery Inn, or the fact that we were once a large hub for Delta. Maybe it is a little bit of all of them? My opinion? It is because of our sports.

I have never been a smoker. Honestly, it is a habit I just do not quite understand. The smell is terrible, the ashes are dirty, the price is outrageous, and it is just plain disgusting to me. However there is a trend among smokers that just makes me laugh. You know the part where a person has to sit outside their own home to smoke.

You know the little tic-tac-toe board located above the ‘3’ key on a standard keyboard? We called it a ‘pound sign’ growing up, or a ‘number sign’, today they call them ‘hashtags’ and they have a purpose, but i don’t think my Facebook friends understand.

Recently I got to spend 6 days at Disney World with just my wife and another couple. We had a blast. I get that puzzled look from some of my friends and if they had thought bubbles above their head I am sure this is what they would say: ‘Why Disney?’ , ‘Go to Vegas!’, ‘Go to a an island resort!’; ‘Go ANYWHERE else’. But they all are wrong - let me tell you why…

Now I thought i was in-tune with the tech-world. I read more tech related blogs on the inter-webs than most ‘normal guys’. Somehow or another I missed this perfect piece of kit. As I sat at dinner with some very good friends she began to tell me about a device that limits the time my kids spend on specific websites, apps, and devices in general.

I try desperately not to get my news from your typical local TV station. I read most of my news on the interwebs, and while EVERYTHING you read or hear today has an opinion spun into it, somehow reading it myself makes it easier to separate the news from the spin. (At least I tell myself this!)

Over the past few years I have noticed, or maybe have become more aware, of the increasing trend of 40 somethings dressing like they are 20. They are trying so hard to be young and hip again…that they look like they are trying so hard to be young and hip.

On labor day my family was invited to participate in a Kick Ball tournament with a large group of friends. There were 6 different teams and at least 10 per team. It was perfectly designed so I did not have to participate with my family, but got to compete against them.

Today I was standing in line at a local home improvement store. There was a (seemingly) nice couple in front of me in line. I chit chatted with them as I was waiting for my turn in line. The nice couple paid and proceeded to leave the store. As they passed through the electronic monitoring gates the alarms started to sound. They kept walking. Out the door they went.

It all started back in March. I had received an email from the Metallic Fan Club. (Yes, I am a huge music fan, a metal head at heart, and a diehard Metallica fan!) Metallica just announced a show the grand opening weekend at the brand-new stadium in Minneapolis on August 20th. Fan club members were going to be offered a chance at a pre-sale for these tickets.

As I am certain the tile gives away, I am technically left-handed. However, I am probably considered to be more ambidextrous in the true sense of the word. For those things that define you as being left handed - write, eat, drink - I do left handed. But as life a left hander has taught me, there are many things that are just easier to do right handed.

So I get it. Running a marathon is a feat of physical prowess. I fully admit that I could never do it. I think about it from time to time, and then I think about how much I hate to run. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never run a marathon, a half marathon, or even a 10K. At the bare minimum it is not in my future plans, however you just never know for sure.

About a year ago my wife and I traveled to Las Vegas for a conference. Well lets say I went for a conference, she went to lay by the pool and relax. At night I had little interest in ‘networking’ with a bunch of computer nerds, so the two of us got to spend quality time together.

I just returned today from a 2 week vacation. It was a fun, educational, and interesting trip - but after two weeks nothing felt better than to come home to MY bathroom.
